In the refurbishment, the frames will be dismantled
back to their original components and the wooden backing board replaced
with light weight Corflute, a fluted plastic. The
end result will be much lighter frames that are not only easier to
handle but will be less prone to any mould growth. In addition the frames will be made more
rigid and less subject to vertical distortion, thus simplifying both
frame erection and exhibit mounting. |
|
The APF believes that this refurbishment will
ensure that we can continue to use the frames and not only will they
be in good condition for Australia 2013, but for many subsequent years. 2013 is doubly important, not only does it
celebrates 100 years of the kangaroo and map stamps, but will also
be the next International Exhibition in Australia. However,
the total cost for the refurbishment is estimated to be between $20
- 30,000 and we are seeking your assistance to help us defray this
cost. Naturally, this refurbishment cost is substantially
less than the cost of replacing the frames. |
|
The APF is therefore seeking sponsorship of
individual frames. The cost will be $25 for a single side
or two sides for $40. Each sponsor will have a plaque placed
on the frame that will remain there permanently. There will
be a choice of two inscriptions, either “In Memory of (Name)” or “Proudly
Sponsored by (Name)”. This is your opportunity to support
organised philately. This is an ideal opportunity for clubs,
individuals, and companies to support the showpieces of philately – State,
National and International exhibitions. The individual sponsorship
cost per frame is low, but we are optimistic that with your generous
support we can raise the money so necessary for extending the life
of our display frames. |
