SEPTEMBER 2004
Fremantle Passenger Terminal, Victoria Quay,
Fremantle, Western Australia
The Western Australian Philatelic Council (WAPC) is
honoured to be conducting Australia's only National Stamp Exhibition in 2004.
It
will be held under the auspices of the Australian Philatelic Federation (“APF”)
YOUR INVITATION
2004 marks the
150th anniversary of Western Australia's first postage stamps and
the 175th anniversary of the settlement of the Swan River Colony. The organising
committee will build on this relevance by inviting philatelic, historical,
genealogical and similar societies to attend and contribute to its success,
with a particular focus on the importance of the Swan River.
National stamp
exhibitions are an ideal opportunity for national and overseas societies to
plan meetings and displays, as well as informal get-togethers at breakfasts
lunches or cocktails. Please take this opportunity to be a part of the Swan
River Stamp Show. Meeting rooms at the venue can be arranged in one or two-hour
blocks during the four days of the exhibition. However, space is limited and
bookings will need to be arranged early, so as not to disappoint.
Should your
society wish to organise a breakfast, luncheon or dinner gathering, this can be
arranged for you at one of the many venues in Fremantle at a price to suit your
budget.
The Fremantle
Passenger Terminal at the mouth of the Swan River has been chosen as the venue
for the Swan River Stamp Show for its significance as the disembarkation point
for many migrants in past years. An
area for 650 frames of stamp, postcard and postal history exhibits has been
assigned, as well as 24 Australian and overseas dealers. Adjacent to the terminal is Western
Australia's new and innovative Maritime Museum, and close-by are historical
buildings relating to the early colony.
Participation in
the Exhibition is open to all exhibitors whether they are members of affiliated
organisations or not. Exhibition regulations are based on the APF Regulations
for Australian Philatelic Exhibitions.
Invited exhibits will
have the colonial theme and negotiations are underway to obtain the world’s
premier exhibit of Western Australia which displays unique rarities, and has
won many grand prix.
Various functions
are being arranged including a welcome cocktail party, a formal dinner and
presentation awards. Accommodation can be arranged for you. This would be the
ideal opportunity to extend your holiday to Western Australia and take
advantage of the Wild Flower season. Fremantle and Perth have a range of
accommodation available, and arrangements can be made to suit all pockets.
A range of souvenirs will be available. In
the past five years WAPC exhibition souvenirs have been unusual and unique,
with integrity enforced. The Swan River Stamp Show's souvenirs will retain that
reputation.
There will be a Supporters' Club, with
membership limited to 100 and issued on a strictly first come first served
basis. The Supporters’ Club pack will be available for $100 and will include
benefits, discounts and souvenirs not available elsewhere.
All exhibitions need supporters, sponsors
and advertisers. Perhaps your organisation would consider contributing a prize
in one of the display categories, be associated with naming rights to one of
the functions during the exhibition, or consider advertising for new membership
in the catalogue or Awards List.
There is a range of promotional, advertising,
and sponsorship opportunities available, details of which can be obtained from:
The Secretary,
Swan River Stamp Show,
GPO Box 9800,
Perth, Western
Australia, 6001.
All
written correspondence to supporters will be in philatelically collectable
covers.
